Blizzard has filed a trademark for what looks to be a new tournament creation system software called Compete.
"Providing an online non-downloadable Internet-based system application featuring technology enabling users to organize and promote e-sports tournaments, to create and customize tournament brackets and ladders, track tournament progress, maintain related statistics, and post results," the trademark description reads.
This system will allow players of StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone to set up and organize their own tournaments quite easily. The appliction was filed back on July 31st and will have its final evaluation within 90 days. There is no telling how long it could take before Compete actually rolls out, but it's definitely an intriguing prospect that other developers will be keeping an eye on.
We've reached out to Blizzard for comment and will let you know what we find out. Which game will you set up a tournament for first?
