Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan “apologizes” to “the entire country of Australia” over “cultural insensitivity” in new Overwatch map

Welp, there's nothing like a little identity politics-related "controversy" to get you through your day. Fortunately, this time around, it doesn't appear to be too serious, as some self-described "nit-picking" from a Redditor has caused a thread to blow up in popularity, prompting a half-serious (if that) response from Blizzard's Jeff Kaplan

The issue stems from a sign in the trailer for the Map (embedded above) showing a fast food joint with a sign that reads "take out."

Here's a picture of the sign:

As the Redditor, RagingWinston points out, Australians generally use the phrase "take-away," which he says might "piss off some of us Aussies." Apparently, the thread kept generating attention, which caught the eye of Jeff Kaplan who posted this response:

"I'd like to offer a direct apology to the entire country of Australia. Please forgive our cultural insensitivity. We will fix this in an upcoming patch (the sign travesty will most likely go live for some period before being fixed).

I've also been told by Muselk that our coffees are too large as well. We're learning… trying, over here…"

However, despite the playful nature of Kaplan's response, there are some who are seriously taking offense to another element of the trailer. There is a phrase in the trailer that goes "they thought they could take our land and give it to the machines," which is causing some people to call out Blizzard as being insensitive on social media.

Regardless, it seems like it's just another day on the internet.
