Blomkamp’s Alien 5 on hold for Prometheus 2

Game over, man. Game over!

This whole Alien/Prometheus thing is getting a little crazy. And we just found out from director Neill Blomkamp himself that Alien 5 has been temporarily put on hold because of Ridley Scott's Alien: Paradise Lost, the sequel to his Alien prequel Prometheus.

Well, that sucks. I think most would agree that we'd rather have a new Alien film with the return of Ripley and Hicks than a sequel to the disappointing Prometheus. It's been said that Blomkamp's Alien 5 will pretend the events of Alien 3 and Resurrection never happened, which explains how the two beloved characters can return.

As for what's causing the hold up, well, we don't quite know; but, this isn't the first time Blomkamp's film was impacted with Scott's Alien: Paradise Lost (aka Prometheus 2). It's unclear how long Alien 5 will be on hold, but hopefully it's not too long. Earlier this month, Blomkamp gave us a sneak peek at the new-and-improved Pulse Rifle in the film and it stirred up all sorts of emotions. Needless to say, I'm more excited for Blomkamp's Alien film than I am for a Prometheus sequel.
