Sorry kiddies, but if you were hoping to convince your parents to buy you Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as long as you turn the blood off, you're out of luck. As it turns out, you're stuck with the gore.
VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda Pete Hines confirmed today via Twitter, "You cannot disable blood/gore in Skyrim. Sorry. My oldest kid is not happy he can't play either."
I doubt the blood and gore factor is the only thing that will stop parents from buying the game for their children. Skyrim received a Mature rating by the ESRB, citing blood and gore, intense violence, sexual themes, and use of alcohol as some of the game's contents. So if it's not the blood/gore, I'm sure the alcohol, whores, or cannibalism might have some influence.
If you're not satisfied with the amount of blood and gore, don't worry as I'm sure there will be some mods for the PC that will increase it to absurd levels.
