BlueStreak will have ‘an emphasis on story’

Boss Key Productions' newly revealed gameĀ Project BlueStreak may be a first-person arena-based shooter, but that doesn't mean it won't have any story associated with it. On the contrary, there will be "an emphasis on story," according to Boss Key CEO Cliff Bleszinski. It just won't be story "in the traditional sense," he said in a recent Reddit AMA.

"Weapons will have manufacturing corporations, players will have lore/history, and the world will feel there and lived in. We also want to make live action shorts quarterly to help tell more about the universe outside of the game," he explained. "If you're doing a Sci Fi IP you need as much of the fiction to come through in other mediums (and with lore) so people care about Plasma Rifle 3 or Player X."

Elsewhere in his AMA, Bleszinski revealed that he is "determined" to not makeĀ BlueStreak pay to win, but that's usually what all free-to-play developers/publishers say about their game. You know, because "free-to-play" is such a scary term for gamers.
