Bohemia Interactive responds to employee ‘espionage’ arrests in Greece

Earlier  today it was reported that two Czech game developers from Bohemia Interactive were arrested after being accused of taking photographs and video the military installations. Information regarding the incident has been sparse, but Bohemia Interactive has released a statement about the employee arrests in Lemnos.

While it was reported that the two claimed they were gathering material for Bohemia Interactive's upcoming game Arma 3, Bohemia has denied that, saying the employees were visiting the island with "the sole purpose of experiencing the island's beautiful surroundings".

"Since its establishment in 1999, Bohemia Interactive has created games based only upon publicly available information," said Bohemia Interactive CEO Marek Spanel. "We always respect the law and we've never instructed anybody to violate the laws of any country. The same is true for Arma 3."

"Currently, all our effort goes towards supporting the guys over there, as well as their friends and families affected by this difficult situation. We sincerely hope that this is an unfortunate misunderstanding of their passion as artists and creators of virtual worlds," Spanel concluded.

It is currently being reported that the two developers were being transferred tot he Greek island of Lesbos where they will face a preliminary trial on suspicion of espionage.
