Borderlands 2 becomes UK’s biggest launch of 2012

Borderlands 2 has dethroned Mass Effect 3 as the biggest UK launch in 2012. The first-person, co-op RPG shooter/looter debuted at the top of the All Formats Chart. According to GfK it outsold Mass Effect 3 by over 4,000 sales.

It's quite an improvement on the original which made it only to the number 7 spot when it was released on Xbox 360 and PS3. Borderlands 2 has outsold the original by more than four to one. Of these sales, 71% have been for the Xbox 360 version, compared to 22% on PS3 and 7% on PC.

As for other titles, F1 2012 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 finished second and third, respectively. Square Enix's open world action-adventure Sleeping Dogs dropped to fourth after being last week's top seller. Guild Wars 2 is still boasting impressive sales, finishing ninth.
