Borderlands 2 on PlayStation Vita is — for the most part — an exact recreation of the game we've played on consoles. The only major difference? The co-op experience has been whittled down to just two players online.
As revealed in the PlayStation Blog's hands-on preview of the game, the PS Vita version of Borderlands 2 supports two-player online co-op play between two Vita owners. When asked, SCEA Third Party Production team "confirmed that while they strived to include four-player co-op in the game, they made the decision late in their development cycle to focus on providing the best two-player-only co-op experience possible," the site explains.
Other than that, the PS Vita version of Borderlands 2 is largely the same game. Environment and character models are details, the game runs "in the vicinity of 30 frames per second," and all of the previously released console DLC is already included. So if you haven't yet played Borderlands 2, or want to take your PS3 adventure with you on-the-go, then get it for Vita on May 6.
