Borderlands 2 shipping with Steamworks on PC

2K Games, Gearbox, and Valve today announced an agreement to power all PC versions of the highly anticipated FPS sequel Borderlands 2 with Steamworks.

By doing so, Borderlands 2 players will enjoy the many benefits of Steamworks features like Steam Achievements, downloadable content, auto-updating, multiplayer matchmaking, Steam Cloud support and more.  The PC retail version of Borderlands 2 will also enjoy the benefits of Steamworks features as well, the companies announced.

Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter combining first-person action with role-playing gameplay elements.  Gearbox is looking to kick Borderlands 2 up  a notch, including all-new characters and skills, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies, and a 'gajillion' more weapons and loot.

Players will need to utilize all of these new weapons during their adventure on Pandora which will have them track down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation.

Borderlands 2 is set to release on September 18, 2012 in North America and September 21, 2012 internationally.  To get a head start, you can pre-order Borderlands 2 today.
