Unlike its predecessor, Borderlands 2 will not be "toned down" for certain parts of the world.
Gearbox announced today that the uncut version of Borderlands 2 will ship worldwide, unlike the first game in which certain parts of the game were toned down a bit in certain territories.
"Some fans will remember that the first Borderlands game was a bit toned down in certain territories compared to the rest of the world. No longer!" Gearbox proudly proclaimed. "Do you live in Germany? Australia? Bandits will be just as likely to explode into bloody chunks of awesomeness as they will be in the Canada or England (which is to say: very likely.)"
Borderlands 2 will have a Gore Toggle option for those of you who actually prefer the less bloody version. Using this toggle will allow you to remove all blood and guts from the game entirely, making it slightly more appropriate for younger gamers (though it is still rated M for Mature due to intense violence, language, sexual themes, and use of alcohol).
Borderlands 2 launches on September 18 in North America and September 21 Internationally. By pre-ordering the game today, you can join the Premiere Club which will reward you with the Vault Hunter's Relic which boosts gear-hunting fortune, a Golden Key to unlock a rare item in the mysterious Sanctuary Loot Chest, a package of unique Gearbox Golden Guns to help you start your journey on Pandora – all for free! You will also receive the new Mechromancer class as free DLC following the launch of Borderlands 2.
Other Borderlands 2 rewards include the Veteran Vault rewards which unlocks exclusive character heads and skins just by having a saved game from the first Borderlands game on your hard drive.
