Bryce Dallas Howard is ditching the heels in Jurassic World 2

When Jurassic World hit theaters back in June, the internet freaked out over the fact that Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Claire, not just wore heels, but outran a T-Rex in them. As impressive as that was, the nitpickers had a problem with how unrealistic it'd be for a woman to run in heels — but you know, a theme park full of dinosaurs, that's cool. In any case, Bryce Dallas Howard has confirmed she will in fact be ditching the heels in the upcoming sequel.

Speaking to Collider, Howard admitted she was "totally surprised" with how much her character's choice in footwear dominated the internet conversation, but she acknowledged that heels seemed like a fit for Claire.

"In terms of the controversy of it, that is something I didn't expect at all. I sort of, from the perspective, I was like 'Of course, it's illogical for her to be in heels in the jungle.' She never intended to go into the jungle. If she was in flats, that would be a cheat. That woudl be something like, 'Oh, she managed to get her hands on flats.' No, no, no, Claire never thought she was going to end up tracing through the jungle, let alone outrunning a T-Rex."

"So that kind of side of things, I couldn't quite… of course she wouldn't have sensible footwear on. She worked in the office, and that's how she dressed. She's the woman who could probably run a marathon in heels and would, and would prefer it," Howard continued. "So that side of things, I had a difficult thing wrapping my mind around with."

Howard went on to reveal towards the end that her character will not be wearing heels in Jurassic World 2, sharing a pretty funny story of how she heard about the sequel.

"Here's what I will say, the way that Colin told me that the sequel was happening and that I was gonna be in it, he texted me '#NoHeels2018.'"

Personally, I don't care what sort of shoes she wears, but apparently there's a lot of people with nothing better to complain about.
