Bungie answers critics’ burning question over Destiny launching on current/next-gen

After last Sunday’s major Destiny media showcase, one thing’s clear about Bungie’s upcoming sci-fi shooter – we still know little about what Destiny is all about, but what we do know is that it’ll certainly be a landmark event for many. Not only is Destiny a next-generation, original franchise, it’s the first time Playstation fans will be able to sink their teeth into a Bunige title. It’s an ambitious endeavor, certainly, but some fans are concerned that it’s too ambitious in that it’ll be releasing on two separate generations of consoles.

It’s no secret that games that have released on two individual generations of consoles haven’t been on par as equal entities, but Bungie is confident that they’ll deliver an experience that’s worthy for all players across all systems. In a recent Q&A session, Destiny developers were asked what differences there would be with the different consoles, which they replied with a resounding “none.”

"We’ve been planning for multiple hardware platforms from the very beginning," Bungie replied. "And while we can’t get into the minute technical details of each console, we’re fully committed to delivering our full vision for Destiny on every console we ship on. Currently, that list is PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360."

The “next-gen” consoles, and their announcements, have been the worst kept secrets in recent memory (okay, apart from the yearly Call of Duty announcements). Keeping that in mind, our knowledge of these consoles is minimal when compared to the developers’ who are actively building worlds with next-generation in mind. Destiny has been in the works now for quite some time, and with that hopefully brings an equal experience between our systems now and the machines we’ll be craving over in the near future.
