Bungie: No decision on Destiny’s beta progress carrying over to final game

It's possible that the progress you make while playing Destiny's beta could carry over to the final game once it's released in September. Bungie hasn't confirmed it yet, but they haven't ruled it out either.

"The beta is a test," Bungie community manager David Dague told Eurogamer when asked about the possibility. "It's extremely unknown as to what the outcome will be. So, it's certainly not a promise or an announcement that we're making at this time. It all depends on what we learn and how things shake out. So, we're certainly not telling players they can carry their progress over, but we haven't made any announcements either way."

I'm usually a glass half empty guy so until Bungie officially announces something, I'd play the beta with the belief that your progress will eventually be wiped. I don't know how high the level cap with the beta is set, but I have a hard time believing Bungie will want players with such a level advantage when the game officially launches.

Destiny's beta will open on PlayStation platforms this Thursday, July 17. Bungie will then open the beta up to Xbox gamers on July 23. The beta is scheduled to end for all platforms on July 27, presumably marking the last time you'll be able to play the game until its official launch on September 9 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. Bungie has been rather coy sharing details regarding the contents of the beta, but a leaked memo allegedly sent to GameStop managers has revealed it could include four story chapters, four competitive multiplayer maps, a cooperative Strike, and a "huge" world to explore.

If you want in on the Destiny beta, we've got some spare codes to give out.
