The Iron Banner comes to a close in Destiny tomorrow, bringing to an end the week-long Crucible event which removed the automatic player balancing in favor of a rule set in where gear meant everything — well, kind of.
Turns out, gear wasn't all the Iron Banner took into account; player skill was also a good majority of it — as evidence by lower level characters sometimes defeating level 20-plus Guardians.
Point being, the Iron Banner wasn't a perfect event. Lord Saladin, the Iron Banner vendor, didn't have the best of rewards for players, grinding reputation took forever, and the system which rewarded wins-only encouraged players to leave or AFK mid-match. Needless to say, like all things in Destiny, the Iron Banner can use some improvement.
And it appears Bungie is listening. In last week's Destiny update, Bungie assured users that data isn't the only thing being collected. "I know for a fact that a lot of my Bungie friends will read the comments for this (and every) Bungie Weekly Update," community manager DeeJ said. "So, tell us what you think. The Iron Banner is a different way to reap new rewards. Is it different enough to serve its purpose?"
"Lord Saladin will very likely play by different rules the next time we clear a landing zone for him in the Tower."
Okay, so Bungie didn't specifically promise improvements, but it can be inferred that taking your feedback, the developer will continue to work on ways to enhanced the player experience — whether it be the reputation system or the actual rewards Lord Saladin offers.
