Bungie responds to Destiny ‘House of Wolves’ leaks

Bungie has responded to the leaks regarding Destiny's next expansion, House of Wolves. While admitting leaks "are fun," the developer cautioned players not to get too carried away with the alleged details.

"Aside from giving it a name, Bungie has yet to reveal the House of Wolves," Destiny community manager David 'DeeJ' Dague said. "That means that anything you know about it can change. We have a team working on the experience in their own fancy room, and they have some exciting surprises up their sleeves."

Included in the leaks were screenshots of armor showing gear with a maximum light level of 39, implying that Vendor gear will once again render Raid gear obsolete. It also showed weekly activities such as Nightfall with an increase in difficulty from level 30 to 32.

"We reserve the right to overwrite anything you're looking at right now," DeeJ cautioned. "These placeholder items enable us to save room on your drive for actual future updates. You'll all download them before it's time to play."

"Any stats or assumptions about power or impact or handsomeness are months old, and do not reflect the things that we're doing to adapt to what you've taught us about Destiny. There is a process here, and you're a part of it," he added.

Last month, lead designer Luke Smith took to NeoGAF to assure players that Bungie won't make the same mistakes with House of Wolves that they did with The Dark Below. One of the major complaints with The Dark Below was that players were able to purchase gear right of the bat that was comparable to the gear players took forever to grind for in Vault of Glass, the end raid in the base game. He promised that thigns like "vendor gear invalidating the effort of [Vault of Glass] Raiders" and "upgrading an Exotic reseting [sic] its talents" are two things that will be addressed.

"Leaks are fun. I totally get it. Please discuss to your heart's content. All we ask is that you leave your mind open to the evolutions that are inevitable. What you see here are very old ghosts from our pre-launch database. These are not necessarily the wolves you're looking for," DeeJ concluded in his post.

House of Wolves doesn't have a solid launch date yet, but the leaks suggested a release on May 19th.
