Bungie responds to negative Destiny feedback: ‘We’re harder on ourselves than anyone else’

Bungie is taking the negative reviews and feedback from fans in stride. In fact, when it comes to feedback, the developer of Destiny — one of the most anticipated games of this year — "thrives on feedback," regardless of whether it's positive or negative.

"Never feel like you need to stick up for us when you see someone expressing an honest opinion about our games," Bungie said in the weekly update. "We're harder on ourselves than anyone else."

Despite the hype Destiny had leading up to launch, the game was received with lukewarm reception. Repetitive gameplay and a broken loot system were just the tip of the iceberg when it came to player complaints. Then this week happened. Bungie hit an even rockier road with fans this week when they released an update that reduced the "effectiveness of a humbling number of economy exploits," namely the popular loot cave exploit.

With a skimpy loot system and a Cryptarch that constantly trolls players, it's certainly understandable why fans would be frustrated by taking away the only sense of hope they had for getting Legendary items. The good news is, Bungie is listening. Though they couldn't disclose any plans, they did drop the hint of a major patch or something on the way.

"What we can say right now is that we talk about you every day at Bungie. We listen to you more than you might think, and there are plans we can’t disclose fully that will change your experience as a Guardian," Bungie teased. "Also, it’s a safe bet that you’ll have something new to read here very soon. I make that bet because I’m editing it."

(Note: Bungie has since announced they will be releasing a patch this week that will overhaul the how Engrams decode at the Cryptarch).

Let's just hope the change is for the better. Bungie has already proven they know how to anger fans with changes. Let's see just how well they are listening. If there aren't some sweeping changes in the future, Bungie can expect fans to make it much harder on them.
