Take lesson, folks, next time you want a job at your favorite game developer, you might want to first ensure your a healthy, active member of that studio's community. You might just be rewarded with a job, as evidenced by Bungie's newest community manager.
In a post on Bungie's site, it was revealed that the company's newest community manager was plucked straight from the Destiny subreddit.
"I now aim to better serve the larger Destiny community alongside those who create and maintain the game," Chris Shannon (known as "Cozmo23") wrote.
"My job is to be your voice, or at the very least your interpreter, filtering the firehose of information on Bungie.net – as well as on social media. I’ll also be empowering all of you to keep creating the great community content that we all enjoyed throughout year one," he continued.
Shannon's love of Bungie dates all the way back to the studio's Halo days, "born from late night LAN parties and molded by the brutalities of online competition."
At Bungie, Shannon will work with David 'Deej' Dague in listening to community feedback. The Destiny subreddit will continue to operate as usual with others stepping up to fill the void. While you'll still likely see Shannon on the subreddit — as we sometimes see Deej — it'll now be as a Bungie employee with direct contact to the developers.
Interestingly, Shannon's first decree was to give everyone free Gjallarhorns, so this is clearly the start of a good relationship.
(Editor's Note: The Gjallarhorn was a joke.)
