Bungie’s vague response to the firing of Halo/Destiny composer Marty O’Donnell

Last last night, Halo series and Destiny composer Marty O'Donnell revealed he was fired "without cause" by Bungie's board of directors last week.

"I'm saddened to say that Bungie's board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014," the composer, who had been with Bungie since 2000 wrote on Twitter. While at Bungie, O'Donnell directed voice talent and sound design for the Halo trilogy, Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST. So why exactly he was let go remains a big mystery.

In perhaps a stranger turn of events, Bungie has posted a vague response to the firing on their official website. In a post cryptically titled "There are those who said this day would never come…" Bungie wrote:

For more than a decade, Marty O’Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans. Today, as friends, we say goodbye. We know that wherever his journey takes him, he will always have a bright and hopeful future.

We wish him luck in all his future endeavors.
What's extremely odd is that the tone of Bungie's message almost directly contradicts that of O'Donnell's tweet. We'll continue to monitor the situation to see what we can learn and how this possibly affects Destiny..
