Bungie sets the stage for Destiny: The Taken King with new cinematic trailer

New trailer teases The Taken King's arrival

Continuing to feed the hype train, Activision released today the progogue cinematic of Destiny: The Taken King, the next massive expansion to hit Bungie's online shooter/RPG.

The expansion is still over a month away, but the video certainly sets the stage for The Taken King's arrival.

"Six of you went down into the pit. You slew a god. With his last breath, he reached out across the night, and now, the night has answered," Bungie teases. Of course, the god they are referring to is Crota, Son of Oryx and boss of The Dark Below expansion's raid. Destiny: The Taken King is the natural successor to The Dark Below, and sees the arrival of Oryx, The Taken King, as he seeks revenge for his son's death.

The Taken King does offer more than just an update to the game's story. Thanks to a slew of new details out of Gamescom and GameInformer magazine, we've also learned that Nolan North will replace Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost, and that Bunge is completely overhauling Destiny's leveling system.

Destiny: The Taken King launches on September 15 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
