To say gamers were excited for Destiny's latest expansion, House of Wolves, would be an understatement. Based on the set of numbers Bungie shared in the latest Destiny weekly update, it's just about all gamers were looking forward to.
"The stampede on May 19th was… impressive. Not even the arrival of the KinderGuardians of Christmas could match the numbers we saw for the opening of Wolf Hunting season," Bungie said, revealing that as of 11:00am on the third day of fighting, Skolas has been captured almost 900,000 times, and evicted from the Prison of Elders over 9,000 times.
Leading up to the release of House of Wolves, the Queen's Wrath event introduced new bounties that could reward players with materials, engrams, and treasure keys from Ether Chests. However, due to the nature of these chests, the engrams could only be decrypted when House of Wolves released — on Tuesday. According to Bungie, 105 million engrams were decyprted with 11.2 billion — with a B — glimmer being paid out by the Cryptarch as a result. Hey, after all the times he shafted you with legendaries when Destiny first launched, it's about time he paid up.
"Your enthusiasm has been humbling. Thank you so much for playing. It’s been an honor to share this new adventure with you, and a pleasure to see you devour it with a royal appetite for carnage and mayhem," Bungie concluded, but not before teasing, "House of Wolves has a few more secrets tucked up its sleeves. There are battles that have yet to even begin."
Kicking off tomorrow is Destiny's new PvP event, Trials of Osiris. Find out everything you need to know about the event here.
