If there's one thing that we want when we invest ourselves in a game series, it's that our achievements and progress carry over when a sequel arrives. At least that's what Bungie hopes you want.
Bungie Community Manager David Dague sat down with IGN and let people in on exactly what they should expect from Destiny in the future.
As you're probably aware, Bungie is aiming for a '10 year plan' for the "expansion and evolution of [Destiny]," but this plan won't make you throw out your Guardian. You've worked so hard on building that character so, the studio plans to allow players to bring their progress from Destiny to the eventual sequel.
"The idea is that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."
As for the future expansions and the inevitable sequel, Dague has "seen new concept art…new exotic weapons…the next enemy you'll fight, the next thing that you'll earn for doing those things."
For now, though, Guardians should be focused on taking on the challenge that awaits in Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, which is out today.
