C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Harbor, Michigan is using Pokemon GO to get kids out of bed and moving again.
Pokemon GO has inspired a generation of trainers to get and move for that ever fruiful venture to catch 'em all. Despite, the occasional lagging issue or buggy gyms, the game is not only popular, its officially regarded as the most used app currently on the market.
Now, it seems that the game is being used for an even nobler cause. The C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Harbor, Michigan has taken advantage of the ever growing popularity of Pokemon GO and is using it to inspire their patients to get out of bed and move around more. As it turns out, the hospital is riddled with PokeStops, giving the recovering children reason to move throughout the grounds, make friends, and stay active.
While some hospitals have had some incidents where people have wandered into restricted areas, going so far as to ban the game on the grounds, the Mott Hospital has made the necessary provisions to ensure safe play. The staff have posted signs marking pokestops and usually allow children to move through the building so long as they are accompanied by a staff member.
Despite the negativity some have regarding the game, it seems that there are some good, wholesome uses for it and it may now have a hand in rehabilitating sick children who deserve to hold on to their childhood.
