It appears as though the next iteration in the Call of Duty franchise will bring us back to one of the best parts of the series.
Activision’s annual return to the Call of Duty franchise has been relatively uninterrupted and 2018 appears to be sticking with the schedule. Last year, Call of Duty: WWII released to right the wrongs of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The 2017 release was even named the top selling console game in North America.
It is being rumored that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be the next game in the franchise. Multiple sources have confirmed to Eurogamer that Black Ops 4 is actively in development at Treyarch. Luckily, this is the same studio behind the other three Black Ops games, including the insanely popular Black Ops 2 and original Black Ops.
The two Black Ops games have seen fair sales, even years after release.
It is being said that Black Ops 4 will pull back on sci-fi focus, which was a sore spot for fans in 2016’s Infinite Warfare.
Rumors have included a Nintendo Switch version of Black Ops 4, however, that part has not been verified. If Black Ops 4 is indeed the next Call of Duty game, it will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (and maybe Switch).
