Call of Duty 2020 gets teaser website; New info coming this week

Last week, Activision sent a number of key Call of Duty influencers big locked boxes set to unlock on August 10th (today). The boxes have been opened and Black Ops 4 has been updated to help decode cryptic messages within the box, seemingly teasing Call of Duty 2020.

After a few hours of piecing together this puzzle via old school projectors and in-game tasks, everyone has been pointed to a new website. The website, pawntakespawn.com, features an old TV, chess pieces, an old computer, a phone, and some other machine. The other machine is flashing numbers 12:00 and 8-14. It doesn’t take a genius to assume this means we’re getting a teaser for Call of Duty 2020 on August 14th at 12 PM (likely PT).

Whether or not this will just continue to string us along when it goes live remains to be seen but a full-blown reveal seems more and more inevitable now. Call of Duty: Warzone has had a number of easter eggs over the last couple of months adding cold war technology into the game. Most recently, players have noticed a broadcast flashing on their screen randomly while playing which says “KNOW YOUR HISTORY”.

Rumors and teases have been pointing to a Black Ops reboot for Call of Duty 2020. The setting seems to be aiming toward a Cold War setting, ushering in espionage and CIA secrecy. The new teasers from influencers and this website seem to heavily back this up. Should also be noted, a bag of Doritos leaked Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as the official title which was also heavily rumored.

Social media users have also noted that there’s a map in the background of the teaser website, similar to Warzone’s. While no one knows if its Verdansk (the current map) or a new one, Activision has noted Warzone will extend beyond Modern Warfare and into future titles.

We’ll continue to keep you posted as we learn more about Call of Duty 2020.
