Video game streaming website Twitch.tv has confirmed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the most streamed console game of 2014. During its launch week, over 75,000 unique broadcasters worldwide shared their gameplay using Twitch, with content from the game being viewed over 26 million times.
Additionally, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare gameplay was watched by nearly 6 million unique viewers last week, totaling over 327 million minutes watched.
"Since the Call of Duty community on Twitch is extremely passionate, we are not surprised that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare set a milestone for most streamed console game of the year based on launch week comparisons," said Ernest Le, Twitch's Director of Publisher and Developer Partnerships. "Our community spent over an hour a day watching and engaging with people playing the game, illustrating the incredibly strong appeal of live interactive video."
"The response from the global community to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been incredible, with millions of fans playing the new era of Call of Duty and even more watching the action unfold live on Twitch in its first week in the wild," said Sledgehammer Games co-founder and studio head Michael Condrey.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare released last week to glowing reviews, with many calling it major breath of fresh air for a franchise that had begun to become stale. Prior to Advanced Warfare's release, whispers of "franchise fatigue" had started to attach to Call of Duty.
"The team at the studio is thrilled to see players think the game we've poured our heart and soul into making these last three years is not only fun to play, but very exciting to watch," added Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield.
GameZone reviewer Lance Liebl called Advanced Warfare "the best Call of Duty game in years."
