If going against Kevin Spacey in the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare wasn't enough to get you excited for the single player campaign, it's worth pointing out that it should have a compelling story. At least, that's what you'd expect when a studio takes "over 2 1/2 years to write" it.
Though little is actually known about the single player campaign story in Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield told fans "it should be" something they look forward to playing. "The story alone has taken over 2 1/2 years to write," he revealed. .
Of course, the time it takes to write something doesn't always equate to quality work. Call of Duty is hardly played for its single player story, but every year Activision and whichever studio is developing it at the time attempts to wow us with it. This year is no different as Sledgehammer has sought out Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) to play the role of Jonathan Irons, head of PMC group Atlas Corporation. Again, little is known about the narrative, or Spacey's role as probable villain, but Advanced Warfare is said to take place in the year 2054 and see Atlas Corporation
Though I've already admitted that seeing Spacey in the game makes me actually want to play the campaign, I do have my reservations. We've been promised great story before and most of the time it just falls flat as developers tend to rely on giant set pieces and massive explosions to drive the game's plot, instead of compelling narrative.
