Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Zombies Mode ‘part of DLC,’ Activision confirms

Days after retailer GameStop outed a Zombies Mode in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, publisher Activision has confirmed that the mode is real, and that it's availability is "part of DLC."

In its press release sent out last week, GameStop mentioned that Zombies Mode will be included as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass for $49.99. Speaking to Forbes, Activision has not only confirmed this to be true (sort of), but has also shed light on how developer Sledgehammer Games is looking to offer a unique take on the mode traditionally found in Treyarch's Black Ops titles.

"The plan for Advanced Warfare from the start was to deliver a great campaign, to re-imagine multiplayer, and to create a fast and frenetic co-op experience all based on the new Exoskeleton mechanics.   Sledgehammer put everything into getting this right, and the result is a great game that brings a new fun factor to the franchise so many people love.

"Once the main game development wrapped, the teams started on some new ideas.  Like many of you out there, we are fans of zombies too.  Since the exoskeleton is in all modes of the game, the devs were excited to play with the idea of what happens when zombies are thrown in the mix too.  Sledgehammer is working on a new version of zombies that’s unique to Advanced Warfare, one that will be part of DLC.  Stay tuned, more info in the weeks ahead."

According to Forbes, Activision also confirmed that the Season Pass is not required to play the zombie content, suggesting that Zombies mode will be sold separately as standalone, unpackaged DLC. Whatever the release/pricing structure, it looks like you'll have to pay extra regardless if you want to shoot some zombies in Advanced Warfare. Unfortunately, there's still no details as to what kind of twist Sledgehammer is putting on the mode.
