In a surprise announcement today, Treyarch has decided to open the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta to all PlayStation 4 players. Originally, the beta had been reserved only for PS4 players who had pre-ordered the game.
The beta, which began on Wednesday, is scheduled to run on PS4 until Sunday, August 23rd. The beta will arrive on Xbox One and PC the following week (Aug. 26-30), but it's unclear if Treyarch will do something similar and open it to all players. Given that Sony has a new partnership with Treyarch for Black Ops 3, I wouldn't be surprise if today's surprise was a part of that.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta gives players a sneak peek at four of the game's maps, seven modes, and multiple Specialists. A new update today brought even more content, which you can read more about here. Or, you know, you could just download the beta and play for yourself.
