Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is to release on last-gen consoles

No one is missing out on this generation of Call of Duty.

There are plenty of changes coming in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Treyarch is abandoning age-old tactics and could very well be doing away with their Xbox exclusivity. One thing isn't changing though, it's the love for every platform — except the Wii U.

Activision has revealed that Black Ops 3 will be released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, in tandem with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The Wii U, however, will not be seeing Black Ops 3. "It should be noted that there's no version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Nintendo Wii U planned," wrote Activision's Scott Lowe.

There will be differences between the PS4/Xbox One versions and the PS3/Xbox 360 versions. Campaign mode on the last-gen versions will not feature four-player co-op like the PS4 and Xbox One. Instead, it will feature two-player co-op. Since both the PS4 and Xbox One feature some functions that the PS3 and Xbox 360 don't have, special functions that cannot be supported on last-gen consoles will be omitted from the game (for the PS3 and Xbox 360).

There's an exclusive multiplayer beta for Xbox One, PS4 and PC players on the way, so keep an eye out.

Black Ops 3 is headed to consoles on November 6.
