Dark Horse Comics has revealed plans to release a new comic book that'll serve as a prequel to this year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
According to a press release from Dark Horse, "The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 comic book series follows an elite group of soldiers as they wage war across a futuristic war-torn world transformed by technology." In the first issue, "the team infiltrates Tashkent, Uzbekistan to take down a double agent… but as they close in, they uncover something much more sinister at hand."
Perhaps more intriguing is the fact that the series will be written by Larry Hama, who has previously worked on Dark Horse's G.I. Joe comics. In addition to his experience writing fictionalized military stories, Hama has also played his fair share of Modern Warfare, though arthritis reportedly prevents him from playing video games these days.
While you'll have to wait until November 4th to get your hands on the first issue, fans attending San Diego Comic-Con next week can pick up a free Black Ops 3 exclusive mini-comic at either the Dark Horse Comics booth or the Activision installation. There will also be a "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Zombies World Reveal" panel at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday, July 9 from 1:00pm -2:00pm.
As for the game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is due out on November 6, two days after the comic hits.
