Last week, we got our first few details about Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, the PlayStation Vita's mysterious take on Activision's popular shooter. We learned that, aside from double colons looking terrible in titles, Black Ops: Declassified "explores original fiction in the Call of Duty Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions."
What we didn't learn, however, is who is making the darn thing. We have the title, we have some gameplay details, we even have the box art, but we still don't have the freaking developer. Does anybody know? Not Treyarch, apparently.
Treyarch, who is developing the console and PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, has apparently been kept in the dark about the Vita version.
"I don't know," said Treyarch's Director of Communications John Rafecz when VideoGamer asked him whether his studio or Neversoft were behind the Vita version of Black Ops.
"With regards to the Vita, all I can tell you is that it's quite literally declassified."
I am not 100% certain, but I believe the word he is really looking for is "classified". Unless he does, in fact, know who is developing it.
Rafacz wouldn't confirm whether or not Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 would be coming to the Wii U either, despite the recent Nintendo Gamer article spoiling a November release for the title on Wii U.
"Right now we've announced that the game is coming for 360, PS3 and PC," he said. "Announcements regarding any other SKUs just haven't been made."
Neither Activision nor Nintendo have announced anything regarding a Wii U version of Call of Duty, but Rafacz did admit that "any technology that can enhance the Call of Duty experience is worth considering."
He added: "There's that core Call of Duty experience and that is what fans expects, so anything that helps advance that is worth considering."
Can the Wii U GamePad enhance Call of Duty? Think about how you could launch a predator missile on the tablet controller's screen while watching the big screen to make sure no one sneaks up on you and kills you; that could sure help.
