Activision, looking to take eSports to new heights, has announced the details for the third annual Call of Duty Championship.
The upcoming tournament will bring the Call of Duty eSports competitors in the world to Los Angeles, from March 27 through March 29, as 32 teams compete for the lion's share of the tournament's $1 million prize purse and the right to be crowned Call of Duty "World Champions."
"From Day 1, the team at Sledgehammer Games set out to bring a new way to play Call of Duty multiplayer to fans. We couldn't be more thrilled of how the competitive community has embraced and mastered the new player movements and game modes of Advanced Warfare," said Sledgehammer Games co-founder and studio head Michael Condrey. "This is posed to be one of the most exciting Call of Duty competitive seasons with the Call of Duty Championship being one of the best eSports tournaments of the year."
Activision promises a variety of "compelling content" covering the weekend's tournament, with the final matches will be livestreamed on Xbox LIVE and other broadcast partners.
