Call of Duty: Elite hits 10 million users

In a press release yesterday, Activision confirmed that their popular online gaming service, Call of Duty: Elite, has officially hit 10 million users. According to the publisher, two million of those are annual, premium-based subscriptions, which has exceeded many folks' original predictions.

Since January 31, 2012, Elite's users have increased 33 percent, which has directly influenced Modern Warfare 3's position on the weekly activity charts for online gaming. In addition, Activision revealed some other interesting statistics: as of March 31, 2012, the Call of Duty franchise had approximately 40 million monthly active users and players have logged more than 1.6 billion hours of online gameplay of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Don't be surprised if these numbers only increase as well; we're soon to be entering into the summer months which allows for optimum gaming time, and Black Ops II's popularity is only going to increase as its release date draws closer.

As you can tell, Activision has been seeing nothing but "$$$," and it's only going to increase. The publisher has already confirmed that their next blockbuster, Black Ops II, will support the service, and if the "waterfall effect" runs its course once again this November, everyone will be jumping over to the futuristic shooter and thus likely, Call of Duty: Elite. For Elite subscribers, what's been your favorite feature thus far? Anything you would like to see added for the newest addition in the Call of Duty series? Let us know by commenting below.
