Call of Duty: Ghosts confirmed for Wii U

Wii U owners won't have to miss out on another blockbuster title as Activision confirmed today the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Nintendo's sturggling system. Ghosts' release on Wii U was a bit of mystery and concern among the system's owners, especially when the game was announced for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and next-gen systems (eventually revealed to be the Xbox One and PS4).

There was even more skepticism about the game's release on the platform following Black Ops 2's disappointing reception. Although the blockbuster title was available for the Wii U during the console's launch and received a positive score on GameZone, it did suffer from a few setbacks — most notably the lack of players. It was thought that the system's lack of a formidable player base would result in Activision skipping out this year.

Alas, Wii U fans can rest easy knowing Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available on the Wii U — alongside other current-gen versions (Nov. 5) — with Wii Remote and GamePad support. How the game will take advantage of the GamePad remains a mystery, but the unique controller should fit in quite nicely with the developer's plans for a second-screen multiplayer experience.

Do you plan on purchasing Call of Duty: Ghosts on Wii U, or are you opting for a different platform?
