Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction mode teased by Infinity Ward

Call of Duty: Ghosts likely won't have a zombie mode (as that is Treyarch's schtick), but that isn't stopping Infinity Ward from offering their own end-of-world type scenario.

Screenshots of "Extinction" — a new alien-filled mode similar to the franchise's zombie mode — in Call of Duty: Ghosts were posted to Imgur over the weekend by user smtkz. Though blurry, they revealed a number of details including a loadout screen with different classes and weapons, various challenges, and the wave-based nature of the mode.

Following the leak, Infinity Ward posted a teaser for the Extinction mode on its Instagram feed. The brief video simply shows the game's iconic ghost imagery — in smoke form — transform into the head of an alien. No other details are provided, but message alongside the clip reads: "Survive the #Extinction."

Call of Duty: Ghosts is due out on November 5th for PC and current-gen consoles so Activision and Infinity Ward should reveal specific details about the mode soon. The game will also be available at the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One.
