Call of Duty: Ghosts ‘Onslaught’ out today for Xbox One and Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught, the first of four massive downloadable content packs for Activision's first-person shooter, is available today for Xbox One and Xbox 360. As previously outlined, the new DLC includes four "small to medium" sized multiplayer maps, an all-new "Maverick" dual-purpose assault rifle/sniper rifle, and the first installment of Extinction's four-part episode story that follows mankind's first encounter with the Cryptids.

"Onslaught delivers a ton of exciting, new content for Call of Duty: Ghosts fans to enjoy on next gen and current gen alike," boasts Activision's VP of Production Daniel Suarez.

"It begins with a diverse set of maps that personify that classic Call of Duty-style of fast, frantic and exhilarating action. It doesn't stop there, because Infinity Ward and Neversoft have taken it to another level; whether it's becoming Michael Myers from Halloween as you pursue your opponents, to creating the first dual-purpose weapon in Call of Duty history, or crafting a new chapter in Extinction that introduces new characters and even a three-story tall Cryptid alien boss, Onslaught has something for all Call of Duty players, and we're excited fans can finally get their hands on it."

Onslaught is free for Call of Duty: Ghosts Season Pass owners. If you plan on purchasing this and the three remaining content packs, then you may want to consider forking over the $49.99, which is actually cheaper than if you were to purchase all four DLC packs individually.

The release of Onslaught coincides with the arrival of a new title update for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
