Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare releases in 27 hours and we are still getting new details about the game! Activision published a blog post with new details about the upcoming sci-fi FPS game and one of the big takeaways is that the game will feature two brand new difficulties in campaign.
Last year, Treyarch implemented a "Realistic" difficulty in Black Ops 3 where if you got shot once, you were dead. That was the first time in the entire series there was a difficulty added beyond the already incredibly difficult Veteran difficulty. Infinity Ward is taking it two steps further by adding two drastically harder difficulties.
The hardest, but not as unique, difficulty is called YOLO. You know, that outdated hashtag people used whenever they did stupid things. For those unaware, YOLO stands for "you only live once". The difficulty is exactly as it sounds, you only live once. If you die, you restart the entire campaign from scratch. The difficulty will only be available if you beat Infinite Warfare on Specialist difficulty. Games like Doom have implemented similar difficulties and have proven to be tremendous tasks for players and even the developers themselves.
The second difficulty is called Specialist. It'll be unlocked after players beat the campaign on any difficulty and will be incredibly realistic. You can view some of the features of the difficulty below.
- You can only heal with Nano Shots, there is no health regeneration in this mode.
- Helmets are your only protection from headshots. They will take permanent damage and will need to be replaced.
- Both Nano Shots and helmets take up equipment slots, so remember to equip them in your loadout on the Retribution before each level.
- Master the lean from behind cover mechanic, which will be critical for your survival. Approach the edge of cover while standing or crouching, and aim down sights when you see a chevron appear on the side of your crosshairs. You will auto-pop from behind cover as you ADS.
- If you get shot in the legs, it will impact your movement. If you get shot in either arm, it will impact your ability to use equipment or aim down sights. Note: Your weapon can be shot out of your hands.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare releases November 4th on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Players who choose to buy a PS4 this weekend will also get a free copy of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
