Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster rated by Korean Gaming Board

South Korea’s Game Rating and Administrating Committee has leaked the next entry into the Call of Duty franchise. The website has a rating of the campaign mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered which leaves very little doubt what Activision’s immediate plans for the FPS franchise are.

The Call of Duty franchise is getting long in its teeth, with dozens of mainline entries, ports, and spin-offs throughout its close to two-decade life. But after rather monotone and disappointing entire in the early years of the generation, the franchise returned to form by embracing modern trends. Case in point, with the introduction of a battle royale game mode in 2018’s Black Ops 4, the online evergreen managed to get rejuvenated.

With the follow-up to it being the remake of arguably the biggest and most-important CoD game, the series once again firmly planted its foot among the FPS greats. Most recently, the formidable free-to-play battle royale spin-off Call of Duty: Warzone managed to shake things up in the multiplayer scene.

So, what’s next for the series? Continuing remaking old fan-favorites of course. That’s at least what the most recent finding suggests. The new rating of South Korea’s Game Rating and Administrating Committee leaves little room for debate that Modern Warfare 2 is getting a remaster treatment.

It’s noteworthy that Modern Warfare 2 is only noted as a remaster and not a full remake though. Of course, this could be just a naming oversight but with the information we have at the moment, Modern Warfare 2 will not be remade like the impressive Modern Warfare from last year. But with the European Rating Board having rated the Modern Warfare 2 remaster over a year ago, the likelihood is it’s indeed “only” a remaster.
