As it turns out, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered did indeed release this past week alongside the Xbox One version despite previous feedback of poor optimization. And wouldn't you know it, the standalone version appears to suffer from those same issues. In the two days that the standalone has been for sale, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered currently sits at a paltry 36% positive Steam user rating, resulting in the designation of "Mostly Negative."
To be fair, the user vote only stems from 360 of them, but the feedback sounds more or less the same as it did before. Here are a few snippets of the Steam Reviews:
Many of the users are also unhappy with the current price point for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, which hikes the value of the game by $20 when compared to the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition. If you think about it; the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition retailed for $80, and if you value Infinite Warfare at $60, that means the bundle rendered Modern Warfare Remastered's value at $20. So basically, the standalone has doubled the price.
Call of Duty games haven't had a great run with optimization over the last several years, as Infinite Warfare currently sits at 38% positive and Black Ops III at 68%, both games of which drawing numerous optimization complaints.
Hopefully, Call of Duty: WWII will be able to break that streak.
