Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sees the return of Rust and Ghost

Ghost returns.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has released its second “season” of content which includes free maps, weapons, and more. As per last season, Infinity Ward has sprinkled in some Modern Warfare series classics such as fan-favorite MW2 map Rust.

Players who purchase the season two battle pass can also play as the reimagined version of Ghost in multiplayer. Modern Warfare also features a new in-game cinematic when you boot it up introducing the iconic CoD character which seems to tease battle royale. We see a squad of 4 killing their own soldiers and another squad parachuting on to a large map surrounded by green gas.

It’s also worth noting that the main menu of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also features a new “Classified” menu next to the campaign, MP, and co-op options. The battle royale mode has been rumored since before the game even released and it seems like it’ll probably be dropping later this season.

Among Rust, Infinity Ward has added a bunch of other maps including Gunfight and Ground War-specific maps. For regular MP, players can expect Rust and Atlas Superstore, a massive store warehouse (seemingly like Costco). We’ll also see Khandor Hideout join the rotation later in the season which puts players an isolated desert battleground.

Rust also joins the Gunfight rotation along with a new map, Bazaar. Ground War sees the addition of Zhokov Boneyard which is described as “an expansive airplane junkyard in Verdansk”. Multiple new game modes will be added throughout the season including the beloved Demolition from the original Modern Warfare trilogy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The new season two update will take up roughly 60 – 70 GBs on your system. Infinity Ward has stated that they’ll be allowing players to pick and choose which content is installed going forward so they don’t take up too much space.
