Well, that didn't take long. Just a few weeks after Halo 4 claimed top spot for Xbox LIVE activity, Call of Duty reclaimed its thrown as top dog. According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the most actively played title on Xbox LIVE for the week of November 19.
Given that Black Ops 2 released on Tuesday, November 13, this is hardly a surprise. As it stands now, Black Ops 2, Halo 4, and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition are the three most played titles, respectively. The three games have been jostling back and forth over the past few weeks.
What could be considered a surprise is that Modern Warfare 3, which is now over a year old, remains dominant. It was the 4th most played game on Xbox LIVE, based on unique users. For the week of October 29, 2012, it even found its way to the top of the list. Also surprising is that Call of Duty: Black Ops, which released all the way back in 2010 was the 6th most played Xbox LIVE game.
Of the top 10 spots, four of them are Call of Duty titles. Now that is some true staying power and a testament to the replayability of Activision's blockbuster franchise.
