Call of Duty’s Xbox exclusivity could be ending with Black Ops 3

The Call of Duty franchise has always had preferential treatment on Xbox consoles. Each iteration of the game recieves downloadable content on Xbox consoles as timed exclusives, before hitting other platforms usually about a month later.

This trend might be ending with Black Ops 3. The newest installment in the Call of Duty franchise was revealed not too long ago and will be making a hands-on appearance at E3; that definitely means some Call of Duty announcements at E3. One of those announcements could end up being the end of the exclusive deal between the Call of Duty franchise and Microsoft.

The UK Xbox One page is showing off a number of games that are headed to Xbox consoles this year and next year. The games that have timed-exclusive content are marked as such. For example, The Division is not an Xbox exclusive game, but will be recieving DLC on the Xbox One first.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has not been marked as such. Check out the differences below:

Notice the difference for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront:

This, coupled with the fact that we've seen literally no Xbox branding with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 could signal the end to the long-standing exclusivity deal that annoyed many.
