Call of Duty: Warzone has been a pretty big success for Activision since launching in March. Part of the reason for its overwhelming success is due to how well its supported. Every few months, a major new content update drops that adds all sorts of new features. Now, we’re getting what is arguably the biggest update yet.
Starting on October 20th, The Haunting of Verdansk event will begin in Call of Duty: Warzone. This event will include a nighttime variant of Warzone, the inclusion of characters like Billy from Saw and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more.
The Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre bundles also include weapon skins, charms, and more. There will also be a Grim Reaper skin for Ghost in the coming days. The last cosmetic bundle comes in the form of Dr. Karlov Lives, which you can read more about below.
“Driven to a point of no return after countless failures in his laboratory deep inside the Gulag, Dr. Karlov became obsessed with electricity and energy-charged weaponry, testing it often in “experiments” on those who dared to wander near his hideout. His featured bundle, “Dr. Karlov Lives,” will put the “shock” in shock and awe with a new skin for Bale, two high-voltage weapon blueprints, an electric Throwing Knife, a vehicle skin, and a few other cosmetic items for your weapons and Identity,” reads a blog post.
Players can also partake in Zombie Royale. Once you die in Warzone, you’ll turn into a zombie. You can’t use guns but you can move fast, jump higher, and feed on the flesh of your foes. Players who die will drop syringes, so if you find two, you can bring yourself back to life to fight with your squad. The last surviving squad with at least one non-zombie member wins.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without treats. Verdansk will also have boxes scattered throughout with weapon blueprints and other items. However, some are filled with “tricks” which will deliver scares rather than treats.
Finally, Modern Warfare multiplayer will also be getting some updates. Players who reach three kills without dying will have their head turned into a jack-o-lantern. Reach 10 kills and it’ll be lit on fire, signaling who you should be targeting. There are also two new modes which you can read about below.
Onslaughter – Squads must wrest control of a Juggernaut suit that spawns somewhere on the map and advance forward into a specific goal area. Be prepared for plenty of Minigun fire and consider powerful Killstreaks to take down an opposing Juggernaut, as well as the mad scramble whenever the suit is available for the taking. Also, the Juggernaut in this mode – and in all other modes during The Haunting of Verdansk – will come with a pumpkin head, which is surprisingly sturdy and durable despite it being a hollowed-out squash.
Snipers Only – As the name suggests, leave all other weapons at home for this Team Deathmatch variant. Instead of custom loadouts, all operators will have a choice between five pre-built loadouts. Aim to have more kills than deaths, as the squad that hits the target score wins the match.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release in just a few weeks which will continue to expand on Warzone.
