Call of Duty: WW2 Accidentally Gave Double XP to Everyone At Launch

Call of Duty: WW2 has launched earlier this month, and a funny accident came with it. Developer Sledgehammer planned to launch a 2XP event over the past weekend, but it was quickly noticed by players that their XP wasn't doubled. Instead, it was tripled.

Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey noted this happy accident, stating on Twitter that the studio accidentally triggered 3XP instead of 2XP. How? Because they didn't realize 2XP was already active and had been for everybody since launch.

Condrey later took to Reddit with more details, confirming that the company accidentally launched with 2XP active and that the double XP event pushed that multiplier to 3XP. Until Monday this week, nobody playing Call of Duty: WW2 knew what 1XP looked like.

"We launched with 2XP active, unintentionally." Condrey stated. "Everyone was getting 2XP since 11/3 [3rd November] and up until we made the playlist change late Thursday night, which effectively launched 3XP. Come Monday, when we turn off the XP bonus, it will effectively revert to what we should have had at launch (aka 1XP). So early players, you got a huge head start."

Did you take advantage of this stumble?

In other Call of Duty news, Activision is considering a Call of Duty movie, but won't do it unless the script is good.
