Call of Duty: WWII gets server fix to improve online connectivity

It's a story we've heard many times. A big game with a massive multiplayer following launches and there are online connectivity issues due to a "high volume of players." Such is the case with Sledgehammer Games and Call of Duty: WWII, as players reported connection drops and progression loss upon launch. While the issues weren't anything catastrophic, they were indeed frustrating, and the developers have rolled out some fixes and are promising to compensate players for any lost progress.

"At launch, we experienced an extremely high volume of players connecting to our servers in a very short window," Sledgehammer wrote in a new blog post. "This resulted in players experiencing mixed online connectivity across all platforms. In response, we pushed a change enabling higher capacity load balancers, resulting in improved live connectivity."

Also, Sledgehammer says that they have "made HQ a solo experience" and deactivated Leaderboards updates for the time being. However, this is not to say that Leaderboard stats are being tracked, they are. The developers are tracking and storing them in the background, so any progress you make will be reflected when they go live again.

As far as the Rank loss issues, Sledgehammer says that they were an "isolated" incident that was fixed with the patch that came out on Sunday. In addition, it sounds like any player who experienced progression loss will be getting something shortly.

Sledgehammer said:

"We realize losing progression is very frustrating. We are committed to making it up to the affected players. Please stay tuned for further updates here."

Call of Duty: WWII can be had for $40 at any BrandsMart USA, the only caveat being that you must make the purchase in-store. So if you're holding off to grab the game at a discount, you might want to consider this alternative.
