It shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise, but Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII, developed by Sledgehammer Games, is still number one. For those counting, that’s four weeks atop the sales charts for the World War 2 shooter.
While many fans (or haters) love to trash the game, saying it’s a shell of its former self and that the game is no Battlefield 1, it’s funny, and interesting, that the game keeps selling more and more. In fact, the game has sold twice as many copies at launch than last year’s Infinite Warfare and made nearly half a billion dollars in three days. It seems that people who love to hate it, still continue to buy it, otherwise, its sales would begin to trail off, but that doesn’t seem to be happening here.
Despite some of the launch glitches for multiplayer, most of which appear to be fixed – with the exception of the headquarters lobby – the game is great. I’d even go as far as to say it’s my favorite Call of Duty Since Modern Warfare.
So how long can COD remain in the top spot? With very few big titles due out before 2018, I’d say it’s going to ride that sales train at number one at least until mid- to late January, but we shall see.
