The Aussies have pulled through. Major Nelson has officially revealed that the next map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be here May 3. Pricing for “Escalation” wasn’t unveiled, but $15 is a likely guess.
As expected, the four new maps will boast what’s being called a “unique Zombies experience.” Initially, we were only given the names of each map, but now each one has a description. “Hotel” takes place on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino, “Convoy” offers close-quarters combat at an ambushed U.S. military convoy, “Zoo” gives you the chance to dolphin dive around a Soviet Russian Zoo, and “Stockpile” is set in a Russian farm town hiding secret WMD facilities.
Don’t forget that the May 3 release date only applies to Xbox 360 users right now as per Activision and Microsoft’s exclusivity agreement with DLC. The deal was struck June of last year, after their initial agreement back in 2009 was altered prior to the launch of Black Ops.
Will you be grabbing the Escalation pack? If so, would you still buy it if the new zombie map wasn’t included? There’s only so much appeal to new maps filled with AK-74u and Famas users, and the extra zombie content will probably sway fans.
