Cannes Film Festival to debut movie that won’t release for another 100 years

We have all heard of the movies that don't abide by the traditional film making rules. For example, Boyhood shot the whole movie over the course of a decade. It's usually something filmmakers do to attract attention to their films and help market their film, but the movie we will be talking about today is very different. Almost everyone currently alive will never get to see this movie, unless you plan on attending Cannes Film Festival this year.

The film is ironically called, 100 Years – The Movie You Will Never See and will star John Malkovich and is directed by Robert Rodriguez and is being held under heavy protection until the films actual release date on November 18th, 2115.

"To ensure that 100 Years remains secure until its official premiere,” the project is being “held in a special safe that will open automatically in 100 years when the timing is complete.” That safe will make an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival before hitting other cities around the globe and eventually heading back to Cognac, France and the Louis XIII cellars.

100 Years starring John Malkovich is clearly an innovative cinematographic project. I hope that our descendants will consider the movie 100 Years for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2116,” said Thierry Frémaux via press release, general delgate of Cannes Film Festival.

The overall plot is generally unknown but the idea of the film is to predict what the world would be like in 100 years, so essentially Back to the Future 2.

This will obviously be an incredibly big event when the movie releases in 2115, but of course this means the movie itself is going to build up an incredible amount of hype. Is there anyway it can live up to the hype? It'll be interesting to see. What do you predict the Rotten Tomatoes score will be for the film? Write it down in the comments below!
