Capcom and Valve team up for Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2

Street Fighter, Tekken, Marvel, Mega Man. These are just a few video game universes and franchises that have successfully collided in one way or another. Leave it to the kings of crossovers,Capcom, to come up with yet another awesome and badass cross-promotion, which will unite the Resident Evil 6 universe with Left 4 Dead 2.

This ambitious project titled Resident Evil® 6 x Left 4 Dead 2, will allow PC owners of either game to experience content from the other. For those playing Resident Evil 6, you'll be able to play as either of the four characters from Left 4 Dead 2 in the game's The Mercenaries No Mercy campaign. In addition to that, two iconic infected, the Witch and Mini Tank will also make an appearance in this mode.

On the flipside, Left 4 Dead 2 players will be invaded by enemies from Resident Evil 6 including Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman.

Chet Faliszek from Valve commented “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.”

It's both odd and exciting to see two opposing franchises merge like this, and honestly, it's doing both franchises a favor. Left 4 Dead 2 doesn't exactly have that new game smell, and Resident Evil 6 is struggling to win over fans thanks to its focus being on action this time around. This way, fans of both or either franchise can get a taste of what it's like when these universes collide.

You can look forward to this new content to download to your game completely free of charge on April 5th.
