Surprise, Surprise; after taking a substantial amount of flak for their practice of putting future downloadable content on retail discs, Capcom is "re-evaluating" their DLC decisions. Still, though, several well-known faces at Capcom continue to state that there's "no distinction" between on-disc DLC and post-release DLC, which has gamers cautious of the company's plans to re-evaluate. But, nevertheless, Senior VP Christian Svensson insists they're listening to their fans:
"We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future," Svensson said
Capcom has since told the public that their upcoming title, Dragon's Dogma, will feature both on-disc DLC and post-release DLC. They've also stressed to their fans that their on-disc content was in development months before the team went into full production. I can at least applaud Capcom for addressing their fans' concern, and are at least trying different methods.
The debate for and against on-disc DLC has been heated for the past several months, so we ask: where do you stand on the issue? Let us know your thoughts, concerns, and ideas by commenting below.
